What we Did

Problems we solve

The agricultural sector is the major component of the Egyptian economy with more than 10 million Acres, and contributing 11.3% of the country's gross domestic product. The agricultural sector accounts for 28% of all jobs, and over 55% of employment in Upper Egypt is agriculture-related so,Baramoda contributes to solving the problems that face this sector.

img
The size of agricultural waste

Agricultural wastes in Egypt amount from 30-35 million tons a year. These crop residues result after harvesting in the farm, such as leaves are stem which is characterized as Coarse plant by-products and big size.

img
High water consumption

The agriculture sector utilizes the largest amount of water, which corresponds to more than 85% of Egypt's share of Nile water. Although the country lost some of its fertile lands to urbanization, this has been balanced by the expansion of agricultural areas in the desert.

img
The excessive use of chemical fertilizers

The use of inorganic fertilizers, and manure storage and use, contribute almost 40 per cent of agricultural GHG emissions. 80% of the total applied fertilizer is lost in the soil and causes groundwater contamination and the remaining 20% is taken up by plants on average.

img
The Alkalinity of soils

Most of the soils in Egypt have a high pH (7.5: 8.5). alkaline soil contains a high calcium carbonate content, which prevents plants from absorbing most of the other essential nutrients.

img
The salinity of soil

Almost 35% of the agricultural lands in Egypt suffer from salinity. Salinity affects production in crops, pastures and trees by interfering with nitrogen uptake, reducing growth and stopping plant reproduction.

img
The productivity of soils

Egypt is 97% desert and only 5% of the land area is actually occupied with less than 4% of the land suitable for agriculture.
